2022 Review

2022 has been a year of progression for me. I have published an academic conference paper. I have decided on my career path and have also gained lots of head starts through projects and internships. I gained a ton of software engineering-related skills, and also started to LeetCode. I have transformed from a stupid programmer to a software engineer. I also learned a lot more about the industry mainly through Blind and a bit from Reddit.

I also kind of decide not to pursue a Master’s degree in the US, but work there directly instead.

Arc Browser Review

Yet another chromium browser …. but it’s different! It reminds me of Vivaldi with its command palette and customizability, but it provides a lot of unique features over Vivaldi (with the reverse also being true), at least the Vivaldi 3 years ago as I completely switched back to Firefox since then.

Review: The Twilight Zone - The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street

A pretty well-done episode.

Writing, tension, reflection, all perfect. It’s like the role model of a short story.

9/10

Junior Year 2nd Semester Review

Machine Learning

Learned next to nothing in this course. It had 15 assignments, and 10 of the highest graded assignments would be your final grade. No exams.

Due to the grading policy, I only watched the course videos for the 1st half of the semester. In the 2nd half, I was just too lazy to watch them. Instead, I just looked for the github repos from the students taking this course in the previous years, copy their solutions, integrated into my code, and submit my assignment. Still have to adjust the parameters and maybe try other methods when the performance was bad, but still, I got an A+ while learning minimal new skills and knowledges.

I hate machine learning btw. Hate to say this as it sounds retarded but I much prefer being a web dev, building things myself and knowing wtf I’m doing. Just wish MLEs don’t get paid that much.

Review: Black Mirror - Black Museum

A solid 7.

Another installment in the digital consciousness series. A pretty cool way to tell multiple stories in a single episode, tho the plot to connect them is a stupid lynching revenge storyline. Not a fan.
